What Did I Just Spend 10 Minutes Watching?

That’s a lot of big-name actors in one “movie.” This is Jimmy Kimmel’s post-Oscar spoof/attempt to take home all the awards next year. It’s pretty funny– with some straight up weird– if you can spare the time. Daniel Day Lewis is my favorite ;).

Something’s Fishy About This Fish…

Went to the Renwick Museum in DC recently and saw this cooool piece of artwork, “Game Fish” by Larry Fuente. Looks like a marlin, but is comprised entirely of children’s toys. I am in love with this piece. Creativity is my favorite!

Click on the pic to see the detail up close-- gotta do it to fully appreciate!

Am I The Only One Who Sees The Resemblance?

Left: Adele, popular British singer. Right: Fairy Godmother, Potionmaster Extraordinaire of Far, Far Away

Left: Fairy Godmother. Right: Adele. Gotcha! Adele's on the left and Fairy Godmother (from Shrek) is on the right. Told you they look alike.

Made these side-by-sides m’self, thank you for asking ;).

What Do You Aspire To?

“The loftier the building, the deeper the foundation must be laid.”

-Thomas à Kempis

Dreaming big is awesome. Sometimes we get discouraged when we forget it takes dedication, intention, and time on the front end to make that happen, so don’t go forgettin’ that, ok?

Errbody Has A Birthday!

The Secret Language of Birthdays-- it's a sweet book AND website!

And that is the wisdom I will impart to you today. Oh, I mean… thought I’d share this cooool and freakishly accurate (right?) site that describes traits of people born on any given day, for every day of the year. Picked today to post it in honor of one of my most faaaavorite people, whose birthday is today! Click on the pic to check out your b-day profile.  I know mine’s pretty much spot on. (It’s free. You don’t have to sign up for anything.)

It’s So Good To See Her Happy

Congrats to the Newlyweds!

I know I’m not alone in remembering following the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping story as it unfolded several years ago, and the collective relief of a nation when she was found alive despite having survived unspeakable traumas. It has been neat to hear updates on her life here and there over the years, and it brought a smile to my face to see she got married over the weekend. Wishing happiness to her and her new husband!

Click on the pic or here for the brief writeup of her wedding.

My Secret Shame!

There, there. Better that you're honest about it.

Realllly cute lil site of tiny confessions, called, fittingly, Tiny Confessions. The artist features characters as well as dogs and cats, admitting to their secret shames ;). He prints to cards, mugs, and apparel if you wanna buy something.

A little late, and yet still timely

This would have been so fitting for Valentine’s Day but I just found it in my desk drawer this morning (I keep copies of quotes I like and find inspiring, and they’re lying around here and there), so here we are ;).

Whether your Valentine’s Day this year was marked by a happy relationship, troubled relationship, no relationship at all, or by focusing on your friends, maybe this quote provides a reminder of why you might find yourself in that situation:

“The [people] we attract and allow in our lives are reflections of not only who but where we are. Spiritually and emotionally. They’re bottom-line reminders of how we feel about ourselves”

Joan Morgan, brackets and emphasis mine

FYI, I don’t think this applies in a negative way to singles! Sometimes being alone, and taking good care of ourselves, is the healthiest thing.
