Well, Since I Didn’t Get To Win Filthy Richness Myself…

Electrician facing foreclosure wins $1mil, plans to take his girlfriend out to Red Lobster, and to help his mom 🙂

This story of one of the “smaller” prize lottery winners makes me happy. Sometimes I feel so disheartened by the sharp divide between the haves and have-nots in the world. Oddly enough, in this day and age $1 million does not make you a “have” but it still makes me feel good to see a “have not” get cut a break while still remaining humble as can be. And the article says he was one of the first people through the doors at the lottery HQ the next morning… Duh! I’d also want that money ASAP! Can’t wait to hear the stories of the 2 big winners!

I Don’t Even Watch Awards Shows, But I’ll Probably Watch This One

Saturday Night Live may not be funny anymore, but these two alum are great together! And they’ll be co-hosting the Golden Globes this year, on Sunday Jan 13th.  Which reminds me, didn’t Seth McFarlane get tapped to host the Oscars? I don’t know if he is as funny as his characters, but looks like I’ll be checking out some awards shows this year! This also reminds me I still need to check out Tina Fey’s book from a few years ago *moves to top of reading list*…

Even for us non-techies, this is pretty funny

I have an iPhone and downloaded the new iOS6, and where I live and travel this is not an issue, but apparently in many parts of the US and world the new Maps feature (which I was so excited to see has narrated navigation) is totally misplacing, mislabelling, and sometimes completely obliterating landmarks and other features. Above is the Brooklyn Bridge mellllllttttiinnnggg. Below is another “bridge” that does not connect anything and just kind of chills in place in a neighborhood. Click on either screenshot or here for a funny pictorial tumblr that highlights some of the other gaffes, or here to read an article about it.

Are People Seriously Getting Offended By Evolution in 2012?…

Apparently Dr. Pepper has managed to cause some anger over this ad, which draws on the theory of evolution. Guess there are still a loud minority out there who choose to be blind to science, but at least they keep me laughing in all their ironic glory:

“’No we didn’t come from apes,” wrote one user [on Dr. Pepper’s facebook wall]. “Lord Jesus pep can be blinded. If we came from apes why is there still apes [sic]’”

Why indeed. Today on has a quick story on the somehow-fiasco.

And not only in my dreams, on an actual streaming site. Save the date, Oct 6th at 8 PM, info here. My friends and I are having a viewing party :).

That is Amazing, Dad!

I read this inspiring story about a dad, Paul Pauca, who created a learning app for his young son, Victor, who is diagnosed with a communication disorder, to be able to learn to communicate with others. My heart definitely melted reading this; story here, and by the way it’s available for sale too.
